A quick post: traveling in style between the Greek isles

After a full day (May 20) of learning about Santorini, we left Thera and headed for Crete.

Our ferry -- much nicer than the last one!

A great big door, for people and cars. Our luggage traveled here, lined up next to a wall.

And we traveled here! Not bad. We enjoyed a comfortable 2-hour ride.

I can tell that I was tired at this point by the fact that there are no more photos for the rest of the day.  So here’s a quick recap: we arrived in the city of Heraklion. Marin Dream Hotel our home for the night, was a short walk from the port; our room had a nice view of the port and the sea beyond (you’ll just have to imagine!).

Then we walked into the center of downtown Heraklion for dinner.  It was busy busy busy! with young people out for a good time.  We saw breakdancers, Gypsies and vendors selling toys that flew twenty feet into the air, buzzing and sparking as they went.  And we ate Greek pizza (veggie, pretty good) and gelato (pistachio, excellent).  Then back to the hotel.  This was a quick stop; we would be checking out in the morning!
